Share an Excel spreadsheet as a view-only link and see who opened it
To share an Excel spreadsheet as a view-only link and see who opened it, drop the .xlsx file into ArtifactSend. Readers see each sheet as a table in the browser, with a tab per sheet, and cannot edit it. You see each reader by email and time on each sheet.
How do I share an Excel spreadsheet for viewing only?
Use a link that opens it read only. In OneDrive, share with view access. On ArtifactSend, drop the file in, and readers see the values as Excel shows them, with a tab for each sheet and nothing to edit.
ArtifactSend shows up to 40 sheets, with up to 2,000 rows and 60 columns each. Readers see values, not formulas.
How can I see who opened my shared Excel workbook?
On ArtifactSend, each reader shows by email, with each visit and the time they spent on each sheet. You also get an email the first time someone opens it.
In OneDrive and SharePoint, the file card can show viewers to people with access, when the administrator allows it, according to Microsoft. DocSend lists spreadsheets as download only, as of November 2026.
Can I prevent viewers from downloading or copying it?
Yes, mostly. On ArtifactSend, downloads are off by default, so there is no Download button. Screenshot protection blocks copying and printing, blurs the page when the reader switches away, and adds a watermark with their email.
No website can fully stop a determined reader, such as one with a camera. The watermark names them if a copy travels.
How do I share only one worksheet?
Save a copy of the workbook with only that sheet, or save the sheet as a .csv file, and share the copy. A shared link shows every sheet in the file it was made from.
Let readers ask the numbers
Readers can ask the spreadsheet a question, and ArtifactSend answers only from its contents. You see every question. Each answer costs $0.05 from prepaid credits, and you can turn questions off.
