The best DocSend alternatives in 2026
A fair comparison of DocSend alternatives in 2026, with the free plan, the price start and the best use for each tool.
The short answer
The best DocSend alternative depends on what you send. For live HTML pages and Claude artifacts, use ArtifactSend, which is free. For PDFs and full data rooms, look at Papermark, Peony or Orangedox.
DocSend has no free plan as of October 2026. It offers a free trial, and paid plans start from about $10 per user per month on yearly billing. Many founders and small teams look for a free tool for the first few sends. This list shows the options that we checked, with plain facts and no ranking tricks.
How we picked
Each tool on this list lets you share a document as a link. Each one tells you something about who opened it. We read every pricing page in October 2026. Prices change often, so check each pricing page for current prices before you decide.
- Free plan: can you start without a card?
- Reader proof: can you ask readers to prove their email?
- Analytics: do you see who read what, and for how long?
- File types: PDF, slides, HTML or live pages?
- Data rooms: can you share many files in one place?
1. ArtifactSend: free, for live HTML and Claude artifacts
ArtifactSend turns a Claude artifact, an HTML file or a Markdown file into a private, tracked link. Readers see the live, interactive page, not a flat copy. Charts move, tabs click and forms work.
Every reader door is free: open link, email, 6-digit email code, Google sign-in, allow list, expiry and an alert on first open. Analytics are free too: visits, active reading time, read depth, time per section or slide, click map, copied text and a replay of each visit.
The Branded plan costs $10 a month. It adds your logo, your colors and a subdomain such as acme.artifactsend.com. ArtifactSend does not accept PDF, Word or Excel uploads yet. Those formats are coming. Multi-document data rooms are also coming.
2. Papermark: open source, PDF first
Papermark is an open source DocSend alternative that you can also self-host. As of October 2026, its free plan has 1 team member, 50 documents, 50 links, unlimited visitors and page-by-page analytics. Paid plans start from about 24 euros a month on yearly billing. Data rooms start on the Data Rooms plan. Pick Papermark if you share PDFs and want an open source tool.
3. Peony: PDFs and data rooms with a free tier
Peony has a free plan that does not expire. As of October 2026, it includes 50 documents, 500 MB of storage, 1 admin and page-by-page analytics kept for 30 days. Data rooms start on the Business plan, from about $30 per admin per month on yearly billing. Email authentication and domain limits are on the Data Room plan. Pick Peony if you expect to grow into a full data room.
4. Orangedox: tracking for Google Drive files
Orangedox works with files in your Google Drive and Dropbox. As of October 2026, it lists a 14-day free trial and no permanent free plan. The Starter plan is from about $55 a month on yearly billing and includes 5 data rooms. Pick Orangedox if your files already live in Google Drive.
5. Pitch: if you build the deck in Pitch
Pitch is a presentation editor with a free plan. As of October 2026, its Team and Business plans include advanced links. These links track visits, slide views and time per slide. Pick Pitch if your team already makes its decks there.
6. Notion and Google Drive: free, with limits
Notion can publish a page to the web. Anyone with the address can view it, and Notion says that password protection is not available. Google Drive can share a file with specific people or with anyone who has the link. Its Activity dashboard shows who viewed a file only for work or school accounts and signed-in viewers. Neither tool shows read depth or time per section.
