## The short answer

Pick ArtifactSend to share live HTML pages and Claude artifacts for free, with full analytics. Pick DocSend to share PDFs, Office files and video, or when you need a data room today.

Both tools turn a document into a tracked link. They differ in the files they accept, the price and how they gate readers. This page compares them as of October 2026.

## Price

ArtifactSend is free for links, readers, team members, every reader door, all analytics, replays and website tracking. The free plan includes 500 MCP calls a month and 50 reader answers a month. The Branded plan costs $10 a month for your logo, colors and subdomain. Extra reader answers cost $0.02 each. Extra MCP calls cost $1 per 1,000. There are no seats and no card is needed to start.

DocSend has no free plan as of October 2026. It offers a free trial. Paid plans start from about $10 per user per month on yearly billing. Higher plans add data rooms and more reader controls. Check the DocSend pricing page for current prices.

## File types

DocSend accepts common business files, such as PDF, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and video. It shows them in its own viewer.

ArtifactSend accepts Claude artifacts, HTML files and Markdown files. Readers see the live page. Interactive charts, tabs, calculators and animations keep working. PDF, Word and Excel uploads are coming.

## Reader doors

A reader door is the step a reader passes before they see the document.

- ArtifactSend, all free: open link, email, 6-digit email code, Google sign-in, allow list of emails or domains, expiry and an alert on first open.
- ArtifactSend refuses fake and throwaway emails with a domain check and an MX check.
- DocSend: email gates are available. As of October 2026, email verification and allow or block lists are on the Advanced plan and above, based on public plan summaries.

## Analytics

Both tools show who opened a link and for how long. DocSend shows time per page for documents and decks.

ArtifactSend shows visits, active reading time and read depth. It shows time per section, or per slide for decks. It also shows a click map, copied text and repeated rage clicks. You can watch a replay of each visit, with scroll, cursor, clicks and slide changes.

## Branding and teams

ArtifactSend shows a small ArtifactSend mark on reader pages in the free plan. The Branded plan, at $10 a month, removes it. It adds your logo, your colors and a subdomain such as acme.artifactsend.com. Team members are free on every plan, so you can invite your whole team to one space.

DocSend prices most plans per user, as of October 2026. Custom branding starts on a paid plan above the entry tier, based on public plan summaries. Check the DocSend pricing page for the current plan list.

## Things only one of them does

- ArtifactSend: readers can ask the artifact questions. Answers come only from the artifact's own content.
- ArtifactSend: a one-line script on your website shows when a reader clicks through from your artifact.
- ArtifactSend: an MCP server lets Claude Code and Claude Desktop send and update artifacts. The link stays the same.
- DocSend: data rooms, NDA gates and eSignatures on paid plans, as of October 2026.
- DocSend: PDF and Office file support today.

## When to pick each one

Pick ArtifactSend when your document is a web page. This includes a Claude artifact, an interactive memo, a product spec or an HTML deck. Pick it also when you want every reader door and full analytics at no cost.

Pick DocSend when your document is a PDF or an Office file. Pick it also when you run a due diligence process with many files in one room today.

You can also use both. Send the interactive memo with ArtifactSend. Keep legal PDFs in a data room.

## How to switch

1. Export the document as HTML or Markdown, or download the Claude artifact file.
2. Drop the file into ArtifactSend.
3. Pick a reader door, such as email code or allow list.
4. Copy the link and send it.
5. Open the report to see who read it.
